Dr. Mitchell Ponsford, DMD, MS, was born and raised in El Paso, TX, where he developed a passion for dentistry from his dad, a family dentist. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Texas A&M University and a bachelor’s in dental technology at UTHSC in San Antonio. He earned his dental degree (DMD, Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry) and a certificate in public health at AT Still University in Arizona. He published research and graduated summa cum laude with multiple awards and honors.
Dr. Ponsford completed a three-year residency program at Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry, where he received his Master’s in Oral Biology, Certificate in Periodontics, and IV Certification. He served as chief resident during his training and taught dental students both in the clinic and in the classroom. Dr. Ponsford has given several lectures and has published research articles on both dental implants and oral surgery.
Dr. Ponsford is board-certified in the fields of periodontics and dental implant surgery and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Ponsford resides in Boerne with his wife and two sons. Together, the Ponsfords enjoy spending time with family, getting involved at their church, and exploring the beautiful Texas Hill Country.
